Shiatsu at Home — Preparation & Safety Guidelines
Create Your Space
A supportive environment helps both giver and receiver settle into the experience.
Choose a warm, quiet, cozy room where you won’t be disturbed.
Prepare a soft blanket or futon on the floor.
Add cushions to support knees, head, or ankles as needed.
Adjust the lighting — soft, warm light or candles work beautifully.
Optional but helpful: calming music, a glass of water nearby, comfortable temperature.
Wear loose, natural, easy-to-move-in clothing. No oils or lotions needed.
Before You Begin
Take a moment to arrive.
Sit together for a few slow breaths.
Let your body soften and your mind settle.
Allow yourself to relax, be present, and move slowly — this is essential.
